Here’s the update on Sandy, the Goan beach hound, and her puppies.
Of her seven-pup litter, sadly only five actually survived.
Sandy and her pups are presently being looked after in a local rescue centre. Once weaned, the pups will be found new homes. I do know that many local residents are keen to take dogs in, so hopefully this will be a quick and straight forward process.
Sandy however, has only ever known the beach and the surrounding forest as her home. She has now been sterilized, and will be returned to the area she knows best when the pups have been removed.
Harsh, I know – but hopefully she’ll stick around and we’ll see her again in around nine month’s time.
